Where It All Began - The Trailer Hitch Idea

Our trailer hitch accessories sprang to life as a result of a trailer accident that Joe Amacker had coming back from a trade show in Indiana. Joe and his crew had been traveling and pulling an enclosed trailer for about four hours when they decided to stop at a coffee shop in the middle of the night for a break. The crew noticed there were some young people hanging out in the parking lot at the time, but didn't think much about it.

Later, Joe and his crew returned to their truck to continue their trip home. Shortly after getting back on the road, the enclosed trailer came loose from their truck and flipped over in the middle of the interstate, destroying the trailer but fortunately did not hit any other vehicles or injuring anyone. Joe and his crew concluded that the pin and clip that holds the receiver that the ball is mounted on was missing and while not 100% certain, the only thing that could have happened was either they did not install the pin and clip correctly (although they had already traveled four hours before stopping), or perhaps the people in the parking lot had removed the pin thinking they were playing a joke. While no knows for certain what happened, that accident made Joe's innovative thinking begin! He wanted to come up with an idea that could prevent this kind of accident from happening again.

The SureHitch System

We call our new product the SureHitch System, and we are offering it as an add-on accessory at this time. We hope to move toward a full line of trailer hitches with the SureHitch System.

The SureHitch can be installed on any existing trailer hitch with three small welds. It takes only a few minutes. But for the effort, the increased safety and convenience, it is well worth the time. We also have the Amacker hitch extension with the SureHitch System that is available in a 7" or 5" extension (see above). The last trailer hitch accessory that we offer is the 12" inch combo bar for fabricating hitches or adding a receiver to a utility bumper.
